Step by Step Instructions for Making a Cutting Board Halloween Witch

Step One – Prep the Cutting Board
Gather all supplies. Place the jumbo craft stick toward the top of the cutting board and draw a line with a pencil to mark the brim of the hat. Measure and mark the jumbo craft stick to 4.5” long with a pencil. Trim the ends of the craft stick with scissors.

Step Two – Make the Witch’s Nose
Trim a jumbo craft stick into a pointed nose shape with scissors. Cut the end from a regular craft stick, and glue onto the nose as a wart. Paint the nose and wart with muted light green acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Step Three – Paint the Face
Basecoat the bottom half of the cutting board with muted light green acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Step Four – Paint the Hat

Step Five – Create Witch Hair
To create the witch’s hair, cut two orange chenille stems in half with scissors. Twist the four pieces together in the middle and then bend the bundle in half. Repeat with two additional chenille stems.

Step Six – Add Features
Attach two wiggle eyes and the nose to the witch with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the two bunches of chenille stem hair to the left and right sides of the witch’s hat brim.

Step Seven – Draw the Smile
Draw on a crooked smile with a permanent black marker.

Step Eight – Paint the Spider
Using scissors, remove the ring portion from a plastic jeweled spider ring. Roughly paint the spider legs with grey acrylic craft paint, letting some of the black show through. Set aside to dry.

Step Nine – Make the Bow
Tie a bow with black gingham ribbon. Fishtail the ends by cutting out triangular notches, which gives a finished look and prevents the ribbon from fraying.

Step Ten – Finish the Hat
Attach the bow to the witch’s hat with a glue gun and glue sticks. To finish, glue the jeweled spider to the center of the bow.
