Using simple supplies from the Dollar Store, you can create this quick and easy Craft Stick Giraffe with the kiddos in about 30 minutes. It’s a great low-prep craft for an afternoon at home, a classroom activity, or a zoo or safari themed unit.
Younger kids will love the painting and stamping, while older kids can help with tracing and assembling the pieces.

Dollar Store Craft Stick Giraffe

Materials
- Jumbo craft sticks
- Wiggle eyes
- Craft felt: tan, brown, gold
- Black marker
- Low-temperature glue gun and glue sticks
- Acrylic craft paint: gold, brown
- Paintbrush
- Sponge dabber
- Scissors
- Printable giraffe patterns

Instructions

Step One
Gather all supplies. To create the giraffe base, line up five jumbo craft sticks side by side on your work surface. Trim additional jumbo craft sticks to fit across the back and glue them horizontally to hold the giraffe together.
Tip: Liquid craft glue can be used instead of a glue gun, but you will need to allow extra drying time.

Step Two
Basecoat the giraffe with gold acrylic craft paint. Allow it to dry completely, then apply a second coat if needed. If you prefer a no-paint option, washable markers, crayons, or colored pencils also work well for coloring the craft sticks.

Step Three
Download, print, and cut out the giraffe patterns. Trace the outer ears onto gold felt, the horns onto brown felt, and the inner ears and nose onto tan felt. Carefully cut out all pieces with scissors.

Step Four
Attach two wiggle eyes using a glue gun. Glue the ears to each side of the giraffe’s head, place the horns between the ears, and glue the nose near the bottom.

Step Five
Add giraffe spots by dipping a sponge dabber into brown acrylic paint and stamping randomly across the surface. This step is especially fun for kids and gives each giraffe its own personality.

Step Six
Finish by drawing two oval nostrils on the nose using a black marker.

This Dollar Store Craft Stick Giraffe is a simple, cheerful project that encourages creativity without requiring a big supply list. It’s perfect for crafting with kids when you want something cute, affordable, and easy to pull together.
