If you’re looking for a cheerful, kid-friendly Christmas craft that uses simple supplies and comes together quickly, this one is perfect. Children can customize their paper Christmas tree craft with their favourite colours, patterns, and decorations, making each one completely unique.
It’s a sweet holiday project for classroom craft time, family afternoons, or a cozy Christmas crafting session at home. Because it’s made of paper and some basic craft supplies, it’s an inexpensive and economical craft for a group too.

Paper Christmas Tree Craft for Kids

Supplies You’ll Need
- Colored craft paper (for the tree and decorations)
- Brown cardstock paper (for the trunk)
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Other embellishments if desired but they’re not necessary. You can easily make everything you need from paper.
- Template patterns

Instructions
Step 1:
Choose your medium-weight craft papers for the green tree layers and decorative pieces. Use sturdy cardstock for the trunk.
Alternatively, you can use a piece of a toilet paper roll and cover it in brown paper for the tree trunk. Trace the template patterns onto the papers using a pencil, then carefully cut out each piece.

Step 2:
Grab the tree base and the large green layer. Glue the large layer onto the base, leaving about 2 cm of space at the bottom.

Step 3:
Glue the medium layer just above the large one, lining up the edges neatly.

Step 4:
Attach the small layer at the very top of the base. The full green tree shape is now ready.

Step 5:
Glue the star cutout to the tip of the tree.

Step 6:
Glue the paper bow decorations onto the tree wherever you like.
Step 7:
Add small dots of glue across the tree to mark where the round ornaments will go.

Step 8:
Stick the tiny round decorative cutouts onto each glue dot.

Step 9:
Take the brown cardstock strip and form it into a cylinder to create the tree trunk. Glue the overlapping edges securely.
Step 10:
Cut two small slits on opposite sides at the top of the cylinder.

Step 11:
Slide the base of your paper tree into the slits so it stands upright. Add any extra decorations you’d like: glitter stars, more ornaments, or even little presents at the base.
This little papercraft Christmas tree is such a fun way to slow down and enjoy a moment of creativity together during the holiday season.

Whether your kids decorate theirs with bright colours, glittery stars, or simple paper ornaments, each tree becomes its own cheerful keepsake.
