Eldon House

Filed Under: London and Beyond, TRAVEL

Eldon House is the oldest surviving private residence (now museum) in London, Ontario.  It was built in 1834 and housed 4 generations of the Harris family.  During its prime, Eldon House was very much the centre of the London social and cultural scene.  In 1960, surviving members of the family (the great grandchildren of John …

Museum London

Filed Under: CREATE, London and Beyond, TRAVEL

My past several blog posts have been about the free art hike I went on conducted by Museum London here in London, Ontario.  I took advantage of being there already to go and have a look around the museum as well.  By the way, if you’re in the area, you need to check this place …

Filed Under: CREATE, London and Beyond, TRAVEL

London Art Hike: Downtown Murals Pt. 1

Filed Under: CREATE, London and Beyond, TRAVEL

I went on an adventure today.  A few weeks ago, I attended the opening weekend of The Met, weekend artisans market in downtown London, Ontario.  I had parked under the Covent Garden Market and as I walked through the walkway (basically an alley that’s been turned into a pretty courtyard-like space) to get across the …

The Fallen Canadian Soldier Project

Filed Under: Charity, CREATE, London and Beyond, TRAVEL

While at The Met last weekend, I happened upon a display that really caught my attention.  It was a sobering display of paintings of Canadian soldiers – sobering in many ways, but mainly because I quickly realized that all of them had died while serving in Afghanistan. This project began when artist Stephen C. Gaebel …
