Easy Mummy Hot Dogs

These easy Mummy Hot Dogs are a really fun dish to serve for Halloween! Our dough recipe is super simple to make, but if you’re short for time, you can use premade pizza dough instead.

These are great for a Halloween party or as a lunch or dinner idea Halloween week. The kids will love these adorable and not-too-spooky mummy dogs.

Easy Mummy Hot Dogs

Servings:  8 

Prep: 15 minutes| Cook Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

Hotdogs

Sugar

Active dry yeast

Salt

Oil

Flour

Edible googly eyes

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar.

Let the yeast mixture set for 5-10 minutes, until the yeast is bubbling. 

Once yeast is bubbled, stir in oil and salt.

Add in 1 cup of flour and mix until well incorporated, if necessary add an extra half cup of flour if the dough is too sticky.

Knead for 5 minutes. 

Once kneaded, roll out the dough into a rectangle about a ¼ inch thick. 

Cut the dough into 8 strips and roll them out in your hand into long snakes. 

Wrap each strip around each hot dog leaving space for google eyes.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. 

Once cool for a few minutes use a toothpick with a little bit of ketchup to set eyes.

Notes:

*You could easily stretch the dough to make 16 hotdogs if needed. 

*You could also use refrigerator pizza dough if you want a quick fix.
