Crocheted Sprout Bookmark

There’s just something about tiny crochet projects that makes my heart so happy. They’re quick, they’re fun, and they’re the perfect way to use up scraps of yarn you have tucked away. This Crocheted Sprout Bookmark is one of those simple little creations that are so adorable and easy to create that I can’t wait to make more.

This crochet bookmark pattern works up quickly and brings a playful pop of charm to your favorite books. I actually made my first one as a gift for a fellow book lover. Whether you’re tucking it into a novel or gifting it with a card, this sweet little sprout is sure to make someone smile.

Crocheted Sprout Bookmark FAQs

What size hook should I use?

If you’re using a worsted weight yarn, I found a 4.0 mm (G/6) crochet hook worked best for a sturdy but flexible sprout. However, you can easily adjust the yarn and hook size if you want a tinier or chunkier version!

Can beginners make this crocheted sprout bookmark?

Absolutely! This is a very beginner-friendly project. If you know how to chain, single crochet, and slip stitch, you’ll be able to whip this up in no time.

How long does it take to make one?

Most people can finish one sprout in about 20–30 minutes — perfect for an afternoon craft session or a last-minute handmade gift.

What other kinds of yarn can I use?

You can use a cotton yarn which holds its shape nicely, but acrylic yarn works too. If you want a slightly whimsical, floppy look, a soft acrylic blend would be adorable.

Can I personalize this project?

Of course! Try adding a tiny flower to the sprout, using variegated yarn for a playful look, or even stitching on a tiny face to make it extra cute.
