The start of a new school year always feels like the perfect time to get back to basics and get a new routine going.  It doesn’t matter that I’m no longer a student or a teacher – it still just feels like a perfect time to regroup and get ready for cooler weather and a different pace of life.

netflixsept1As a mom and a teacher, I always wanted to find fun ways to reinforce learning concepts with my child and Netflix has all kinds of great titles for that!  Some of our favourites for the little ones are:

  1. Thomas & Friends: Thomas & His Friends Help Out
  2. Monster Math Squad
  3. Curious George
  4. Super Why!
  5. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
  6. Signing Time
  7. Animal ABCs
  8. LeapFrog: Numbers Ahoy

netflixsept2And for the older kids, we really love these because of the messages they reflect:

1. Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax
2. Ever After: A Cinderella Story
3. Glee
4. Radio
5. The Pursuit of Happyness
6. The Karate Kid
7. Turbo
8. Shrek

netflixseptrecipeLooking for some fun back to school lunch ideas? You might want to try these cream cheese and veggie sandwiches.YUM! These would make a fun snack while watching some great movies or TV shows on Netflix too!

Netflix-Craft-Final-24556-1How about a back to school craft idea to make with your kids? This one recycles a snack container into a fun personalized pencil box!

What do you do to try to get back to basics at the beginning of a new school year?
