A Basement Makeover: The Beginning

Oh if you could only see my basement a few weeks ago – no, actually I wouldn’t want you to be scared like that!  We had some flooding issues down there.  It’s all fixed and fine now but what a mess that was to clean up.  My basement used to be an apartment when the previous owners had it and the kitchen is still down there.  So, now that my daughter and her fiance need a place to live while she goes to Teachers’ College and he looks for a job in his field, I’m letting them live down there.  But first we have to fix it up!

We’re starting with the bedroom – it’s pretty much the easiest fix.  We bought some Benjamin Moore paint in this pretty purple color and it’s going on like a dream.  One gallon is going to do the whole 12 by 12 room with fantastic coverage.  I’m really impressed with it.  Next comes the new flooring (laminate) and the bedroom will be pretty much done!
