Family Day is coming up on Feb. 15, 2016 and there are TONS of fun, family-friendly events to take part in here in London, Ontario. There’s even quite a selection of FREE activities listed below. Gather the family and start making your plans now!
Byron Optimist Community Centre – Family Pancake Breakfast from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Open Gym Activities from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Activities are free. Pancake breakfasts available while supplies last.
Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre – Family Pancake Breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Family Magic Show from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Open Gym, Family Move & Groove, Preschool Crafts from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Activities are FREE. Pancake breakfasts will be served while supplies last.
South London Community Centre – Family Pancake Breakfast from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Open Gym Activities from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Activities are FREE. Pancake breakfasts will be served while supplies last.
Boyle Memorial Community Centre – Family Pancake Breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Gym Activities and Outdoor Activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Magic Show starts at 11:15 a.m. Activities are FREE. Pancake breakfasts will be served while supplies last. Outdoor activities are weather dependent.
Hamilton Seniors’ Centre and Community Centre – Family Pancake Breakfast from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Bean Bag Baseball from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Activities are FREE. Pancake breakfasts will be served while supplies last.
Stoney Creek YMCA Community Centre and Library – Family Groove (dance fitness) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Family Games (ping pong, foosball, board games and more) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Family Karate from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Family Gym Time from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission fees apply for all activities.
Fleetway – OPEN FAMILY DAY 9:00am – 11:00pm. Rock Wall OPEN 10:00am – 8:00pm All activities on a first-come basis all afternoon and evening. (Bowling reservations available at 10:00am and 12:00noon only.) Please Note: Saturday daytime rates apply for all activities on Family Day.

Eldon House – Looking for a family outing to celebrate Family Day? Tour Eldon House and enjoy hands-on activities for children and adults in our Interpretive Centre. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $6.00 (incl. HST) per person.
Storybook Gardens – Enjoy Family Day at Storybook Gardens! 10:00am- 5:00pm: Outdoor campfire, meet and greets with a dogsled team, horse drawn wagon rides available for an additional fee and a visit from the 12 foot Polar Bear, Can Bear! Programming runs throughout the day, plus beautiful outdoor skating!
Kinsmen Fanshawe Sugar Bush – Free Admittance Family Day at the Kinsmen Fanshawe Sugar Bush. Outdoor Campfire, Demonstrations, Tree Tapping, Maple products Pancake House will be open. The Kinsmen Club of Greater London has been serving pancakes since 1972
CPR Certification Day – Help make London a CPR-Smart Community! In this 2.5 hour session you will learn how to perform CPR and choking procedures for adults as well as the importance of early defibrillation and how to use an AED. Open to anyone age 10 or older. The $5 fee covers your certification cost and at the end of the session, successful candidates will walk away with a CPR Level A certification card.
Children’s Museum – The Amazing Family Race: Use the unique skills of everyone in your family to navigate through the Children’s Museum. Designed for ALL ages and runs all day. Family Yoga: Explore different yoga poses that use all of your family members in a fun, challenging and creative way.
Games Day – Join us for a giant get-together for gaming on Family Day! Tons of board games to learn and play in a casual, friendly environment. All ages are welcome and we will have games for kids ages 3+ right through to adults. Organized by Forest City Comicon, Uber Cool Stuff and LA Mood with proceeds going to Project Play. Cost: $5/Person or $10/Family
Museum of Ontario Archaeology – Enjoy children’s cultural craft activities, cookie excavations, family activities, and hot beverages! Listen and share stories with Mi’kmaq storyteller Nina Antoine-Ogilvie! Explore and shop at First Nation’s Craft Vendors! So put on your warm woolies and spend the day with the Museum of Ontario Archaeology. 10:00 am -4:00 pm Regular Admission Applies
Recreational Swimming – Canada Games Aquatic Centre – regular programs until 3 pm including additional recreational swim from 1 – 3 pm, Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre POOL – recreational swim from 1 – 3 pm ONLY, South London Community Pool – recreational swim from 10 am – 12 pm ONLY

Secrets of Radar Museum – 10 am – 4 pm – Taking advantage of the trails around Westminster Ponds this Family Day? Drop by the Secrets of Radar Museum and warm up. Hot refreshments and “radar popcorn” will be available for purchase and volunteers will be on hand to introduce the museum’s permanent exhibits. Family-friendly activities, touchable artefacts, and the London Amateur Radio Club will be on the air!
Art Gallery of Lambeth – 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, Bring the family to the studio to paint together! Create a wonderful keepsake together; parents and children all work together to create this adorable piece of art. The talented instructors will walk you through an easy step by step instruction to insure an amazing work of art. $75 per family -all materials included, framing, gloss and varnish. Pre-registration required.
Civic Garden – NOTE: This is not on Family Day itself but on Sunday Feb. 14 at 1 pm instead. – Children’s Workshop – Create a Seaside Garden presented by The Friends of the London Civic Garden Complex,625 Springbank Dr. All supplies provided (7″ diameter container, soil, plants, miniature ornaments), MINIMUM AGE: 5 yrs. old and those who are young at heart. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. Please, no more than 1 adult per child. $12.00 per garden Pre-Registration: Make cheque payable to ‘Friends LCGC”
