The Jungle Book Opens Today

I don’t want you to think that I’m a Jungle Book fan or anything, but I have my own Baloo sweater. My mom learned to knit and made it for me one year for Christmas. I had seen the 1967 Disney classic animated film too many times to count and she knew that there is a special spot in my heart for the Baloo.

So you can imagine that I’m pretty excited to see the latest Jungle Book movie that has just been released to theaters everywhere 3D, RealD 3D, and IMAX 3D. In this new version, the basic story remains the same but it is reimagined in live-action.

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories, The Jungle Book is also inspired by Disney’s classic animated film that we all know and love. “We embrace the mythic qualities of Kipling in the more intense tonal aspects of the film,” says director Jon Favreau, “but we left room for what we remember from the ’67 film, and sought to maintain those charming Disneyesque aspects.”
