“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Family Activity: Collect stones of various sizes and weights. As a family member feels that they have committed a sin, they can choose a stone and place it in a predetermined box. As an activity, you could decorate this box appropriately as well. The stones can be written on, you could draw a cross on each of them, or just leave them blank. Each night when doing family devotions, every family member could hold the box to feel the weight of it and how’s it growing or you could leave this until Easter. On Easter, the stones are all removed from the box. The empty box can then be wrapped as a gift and each person can feel the difference in the weight now – reflecting on how Jesus’ gift to us on the cross has taken away the weight of our sins. Another option is to take the stones and decorate them with colourful outdoor paints or glue on mosaics or embellish them in some other way and then use them out in your garden as a continuing reminder of what they symbolize.
