Ok so once again I don’t have anything specifically quilting to show but I did dig into my fabric stash to make this sweet little ballerina dolly. There are plenty of free doll patterns available on the internet but I just drew out my own simple pattern and cut her out of muslin. I sewed her together and stuffed her with the basic polyester fiberfill you find at craft and sewing stores. Here’s a site with tons of free patterns to choose from: http://www.clothdollconnection.com/FreePatterns.html
Her hair, obviously, is made of yarn. Her leotard is made from a scrap of ribbon and her tutu is made from a scrap of sheer gauzy fabric I had lying around with an underskirt (I didn’t like that you could see through the sheer fabric) of one of my favourite remnants. Pink ribbon was added as a waistband, as bows on her pigtails, and to create her toe shoes. The final touch was a sweet little face – I experimented with markers on a scrap of the muslin and didn’t care for the results so I used some of my Derwent Inktense pencils instead. I am debating going over her features with a slightly darker tone that would show up a bit more but I don’t want to lose the delicacy of them.
