I am no June Cleaver.

You won’t come to my door to find me in a lovely dress, pearls on, and with my hair and makeup perfect, doing the housework with a huge smile on my face. No, I more closely resemble Cinderella with smudges of dirt on my face. Although I suppose even she did her work while singing a happy tune. You most certainly won’t find me smiling as I do housework. I’ve heard rumours that there are people who enjoy it but to me, it’s just drudgery with germs added in.

Ella (we’re pals so she lets me call her Ella) also had something I don’t have. She had a fairy godmother – complete with magic wand. Oh wouldn’t that be delightful? Just wave the magic wand and the cleaning is all done. It might be a lovely thought but it’s far from realistic. Or is it?

Recently, I was fortunate enough to be sent a Clorox® ToiletWand® to try out

. Now, it’s not encrusted with sparkles and jewels but it surely is a magic cleaning wand of sorts. It made cleaning my toilet (arguably one of the yuckiest jobs in my home) quick and easy. Best of all, I didn’t have to worry about the heebie-jeebies I usually get from the task. I mean, honestly, the cleaning part is bad enough but then I have to store the dirty brush? Blech.

Oh sure I try to clean and sanitize the brush too but that’s just more work and for an “I hate chores” kind of gal like me, well, who wants more housework? And, I never ever felt like I could truly get the brush clean no matter what I did to it. I felt a little squeamish every time I had to touch it or for that matter, look at it, making the whole job of cleaning the toilet so much worse.

Here’s how the Clorox® Disinfecting ToiletWand® Disposable Toilet Cleaning System works.

You get a handle, storage caddy, and 6 cleaning head refills for a really reasonable suggested retail price of $3.69. The cleaning head is preloaded with Clorox® toilet bowl cleaner that kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria. It attaches to the wand with a simple click. Because it’s a sponge type head, it conforms to the shape of the toilet and reaches all those nasty places that are so hard to clean. When you’re finished, just pop off the cleaning head and toss it away. The wand and unused cleaning head refills store conveniently in the storage caddy. Because it’s disposable, I no longer have to worry about what kind of bacteria is living on my toilet brush!

I used some Frog Tape and Acrylic Paint to add a chevron stripe to the holder so it would match my bathroom décor. 🙂

Here’s a secret insider tip. It’s not just toilets that you can clean and sanitize with this cleaning system.

It works on a variety of non-porous surfaces such as chrome, enamel, and glazed ceramic too. Do you know what this means for me? Well, with my back and hip issues, bending over to clean my bathtub is a such a chore. On the day I clean my tub, it’s the only work I can do because it’s sure to set off some painful muscle spasms that I’ll need to recover from. I’ve tried other handled cleaning brushes but honestly, it’s still a struggle. With my easy to use magic wand from Clorox, there’s no more strenuous bending. The wand reaches into all the corners and cleans my tub like a dream.

You can find the Clorox Disinfecting ToiletWand Disposable Toilet Cleaning System and refills at Walmart, Extra Foods, RCWC, Loblaws, Superstore, Dominion, Fortinos, Provigo, Yig, and Zehrs.
