Mrs Claus Cookies

Ingredients
- 2 oz. butter, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tbsp 10–15% cream
- 1/2 cup white chocolate
- Assorted sprinkles and chocolate chips
- Yellow and red food colouring

Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Prepare the Dough
Combine the softened butter with powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in the cream. Add the flour and gently knead until you have a soft, slightly sticky dough.

Shape the Cookies
Divide the dough into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a 1/4-inch thick layer.
Use a snowman cookie cutter to create the base shape.
Trim the top to resemble Mrs. Claus’s hat, and refine the shape with a round cutter.
Re-roll any scraps to make small snowflake shapes for extra decorative cookies.
Chill everything for 1 hour.
Bake
Bake until the edges begin to turn golden. Transfer to a rack to cool completely.
Decorate
Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler. You want to leave part of it white and color two other parts red and yellow.

- Hat: Pipe the red outline and fill in with red chocolate.
- Hair & Face: Use white chocolate to create bangs, eyes, and a little heart-shaped mouth (or use valentine-style sprinkles for the mouth).
- Details: Add sprinkles to the hat for extra holiday fun.
- Glasses: The trickiest part — pipe the tiniest outline using yellow chocolate in a small piping cone with a pinhole-sized tip.

Snowflake Cookies: Dip the snowflake cookies in white chocolate and finish with sprinkles.
These cookies bake up lightly sweet, buttery, and full of holiday cheer. They are a whimsical addition to your Christmas cookie trays.
They also make delightful edible gifts for neighbours, teachers, or anyone who could use a little extra seasonal magic.

FAQs
Can I make the dough ahead of time?
Yes! You can prepare the dough up to 24 hours in advance. Wrap tightly and keep refrigerated. Allow it to warm slightly before rolling so it’s easier to shape.
Do these cookies freeze well?
The baked, undecorated cookies freeze beautifully for up to 2 months. Freeze them flat in layers with parchment between. Decorate after thawing for best results.
What if I don’t have a snowman cookie cutter?
A round cutter works too — simply trim the top to create a hat shape. Kids’ playdough cutters also work in a pinch!
Can I use milk or dark chocolate instead of white?
You can, but white chocolate gives the best colour base for tinting red, yellow, and white details. Darker chocolate will change the look.
How do I get the glasses to look neat?
Use a tiny piping cone made from parchment or a disposable piping bag. Snip the smallest opening possible with a toothpick-sized hole. Practice on parchment before piping onto the cookie.
Can I add flavouring to the dough?
Absolutely — a bit of almond extract, orange zest, or even a pinch of cinnamon works well without overpowering the gentle buttery flavour.
