How to Make an Easter Peeps House

Whether you’re a Peeps fan or not, this adorable Easter Peeps house is such a fun spring edible craft idea! It can serve as both an Easter dessert and an Easter decoration. Just imagine one of these Peeps marshmallow houses at each person’s place and the joy on their faces when they see them.

Each holiday, I like to make something special – an Easter edible craft with that wow factor that will have my guests oohing and ahhing with delight. This bunny butt cheeseball is always a hit. And my guests love my Peeps Bird Nest Cupcakes. But this year, I’m making this edible Peeps house and I just know my guests are going to be thrilled (especially my grandkids!).

Tips for Decorating and Displaying Your Peeps House

  • Get playful with color: As we did here, use pastel icing, rainbow sprinkles, and candy eggs to create a cheerful Easter palette. You can easily vary the colors and types (jelly beans instead of candy eggs, for example) as you’d like.
  • Add a “yard”: Surround the house with edible Easter grass and scatter mini chocolate eggs or jelly beans to create a festive lawn. You might even want to add some more Peeps chicks and bunnies to the display.
  • Create a whole village: Make several houses with your kids or grandkids and group them together as a centerpiece.
  • Use cake stands or mini plates: Display each house on a pedestal or individual plate for added flair—great for table settings!
  • Attach name tags: Turn each house into a place card by writing guests’ names on a mini flag or use icing and pipe it onto the roof of each house.

  • Kitchen shears
  • Small kitchen knife
A green cake pedestal holding an Easter Peeps marshmallow chicks house made of pop tarts. You can see some pink frosting peeking through at the seams which are then covered with pastel colored sprinkles of various shapes and sizes. There is a ramp made of half a pop tart leading up to the pop tart building. Inside the house is green edible Easter grass with a yellow Peep chick sitting on it. To the left of the ramp is another yellow chick. To the right of the ramp is more Easter grass and three small candy eggs in green, pink, and yellow. The pedestal is sitting on a white wooden table with more sprinkles and grass scattered over it.

Directions:

Preparing your Pop Tarts –

Lay a sheet of parchment paper on a table top.

Spoon icing into a small Ziploc bag. Seal the top and push icing to one corner.
Cut a small edge off for the icing to come out.

Two Pop Tarts should be kept whole for the top and back of your chick peep house.

Three pop tarts have been cut and are arranged for crafting an Easter Peeps chick House on a piece of parchment paper. There are two more uncut pop tarts just above the cut pieces on the paper. A sharp knife sits to the left of the cut pieces.

Two Pop Tarts will be used for the sides. You will need to cut opposite long right
triangles off of the top small side of each. Set up your house to see the angle that
needs to be cut then trim off the triangle piece.

An easy way to cut the second side is to lay the cut Pop Tart on the other one icing to icing. That way you will have icing out on each side and the Pop Tarts should be the same size.

Cut Pop-Tart pieces arranged for crafting an Easter Peeps House – ready for assembly with pink icing.

Using the same Pop Tarts you just cut the triangle off of the top, trim a little off the
edge that’s the shortest. The short side will go against the back Pop Tart wall.

The last whole Pop Tart will need to be cut length wise and then one side cut in half.

Assembly of the Peeps House:

Pop-Tart pieces and pink icing bag on parchment paper – prepping materials for building an Easter Peeps House.

Put the one whole piece and the two side pieces together by icing the short sides of
the cut Pop Tarts and attach to the back whole Pop Tart. Be sure to keep the cut
sides to the edge of the whole Pop Tart and do a quick check to see if the whole
Pop Tart roof will set on top. If not move the side pieces to fit.

Partial assembly of Peeps House using Pop-Tarts and pink icing – one side and back wall secured.

Once you have the sides and back its time to add the Pop Tart that was cut
lengthwise to the front of your house. Add a line of icing to the back edge of each
side of your rectangle. Gently attach the front.

Assembled Easter Peeps House using Pop-Tarts and pink icing before decorating – base structure in progress.

Using your last whole Pop Tart it’s time to attach the roof. Line icing on the top of
your three walls and set the roof on top. Make sure that everything if fitting together
and add icing where needed.

Attach the half rectangle piece to the front of your house using a little icing on the
top of the small rectangle.

Line the outside walls with icing and attach sprinkles of your choice. Continue icing
and sprinkling until you have your chick house decorated.

Let it set to harden a little to display or enjoy right away.

Notes:

If your Pop Tart breaks just add a little icing and let it set.

If you want to move your Pop Tart house wait for a few hours or over night so the icing hardens a little.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! You can assemble them a day or two ahead. Just store them in a cool, dry place (not the fridge—moisture can cause sogginess).

What can I use instead of Pop-Tarts?
Graham crackers or rectangular cookies work well too when making Peeps houses! Just be sure they’re sturdy enough to hold shape.

Do Peeps melt or get sticky?
They hold up well at room temperature, but avoid direct sunlight or heat if using the houses as decor.

Can kids make these on their own?
With supervision, absolutely! Younger kids may need help cutting the Pop-Tarts or handling the icing bag, but it’s a fun, hands-on activity for all ages.

Whether you’re hosting an Easter brunch, crafting with your kids, or just want to add some spring magic to your table, this edible Peeps house is a charming and simple way to do it. It’s one of those projects that brings out big smiles with very little effort—exactly the kind of joy we need more of.

So grab your icing and sprinkles, and let’s build something sweet—one Pop-Tart at a time.
