❓Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! You can prep the cheeseball mixture and shape it up to a day in advance. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate. Wait to add the coconut and decorations until right before serving for the best texture and appearance.
How should I store leftovers?
Wrap any leftovers in plastic wrap or place in an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Just keep in mind the candy decorations may start to soften or bleed color after a day or two.
Can I freeze this cheeseball?
I don’t recommend freezing it. Cream cheese tends to get grainy after freezing, and the shape may not hold up well. It’s best enjoyed fresh or refrigerated short-term.
What should I serve with this?
Mini pretzels, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, animal crackers, or apple slices all work great. Anything with a little crunch pairs nicely with the creamy, slightly sweet filling.
Can I make this without coconut?
Absolutely! If you’re not a fan of coconut, you could try:
- Finely crushed graham crackers
- White chocolate shavings
- Mini pastel sprinkles
- Crushed freeze-dried fruit for color and texture
Can I swap out the honey?
Yes—maple syrup or agave nectar are good alternatives.
