This Felt Fox Cup Sleeve is beyond cute and would make such a great gift for someone special. (I’d love to receive one for Mother’s Day. Hint hint.) This is so easy to make with some basic sewing skills and in fact, is a great beginner sewing project.
Being made from felt, this is a really inexpensive craft project too. You can often find sheets of felt at the local dollar store, but those sheets will make several of these coffee sleeves. This is a great way to use up any felt scraps you have hanging around too!
Felt Fox Cup Sleeve
List of Supplies:
- Felt pieces
- Fabric marker or pencil
- Needle
- Matching thread
- A pair of scissors
Instructions:
Step 1:
Select orange felt for the cup holder base (body and tail of the fox), head and ears; select pink felt for the inner ear parts and the blush; white felt for the face and tail tip; and black felt for the nose. Trace the template patterns on the selected felt fabrics and cut them out nicely.
Step 2:
Stitch the inner ear cutouts on the main ear cutouts.
Step 3:
Use black thread to stitch the eyes on the face cutout and also stitch the nose cutout in the middle of the face cutout. Stitch the blush cutouts on both sides of the face cutout.
Step 4:
Stitch the ear patterns on the top side of the head pattern.
Step 5:
Stitch the face pattern on the bottom part of the head cutout.
Step 6:
Stitch the tail tip cutout on the pointy edge part of the cup base cutout.
Step 7:
Prepare a needle with orange thread to join the head pattern with the cup base pattern.
Step 8:
Take a standard size cup or glass and wrap the cup holder base around it once. Overlap the 2 sides of the base nicely, keeping the tail part below.
Step 9:
Place the head pattern on the overlapped parts of the cup holder base and stitch the head pattern with the sides.
Since felt fabrics can be stretched a little, you can easily fit this cup holder to a slightly bigger cup or glass.
