Easy Oven Baked Chicken

Filed Under: Chicken, COOK, Main Dish, Poultry

I started making this easy oven baked chicken recipe nearly two decades ago and it quickly became a family favorite! With only about 5 minutes of prep and 45 minutes of baking time, you have a quick and easy chicken dish that is perfect to serve any day of the week.

This is such a simple but delicious recipe and we find it pairs really well with these easy to make Fried Potatoes and Onions. This whole meal is on the table in under an hour and requires minimal prep time so it’s a really great one to have in your back pocket for a busy day. (well, not literally in your back pocket. That would get messy!) And now that I have discovered Comeback Sauce, I love to serve it with this chicken. Pour it over or dip the chicken into it. YUM!

Serving this meal for guests? This Brown Sugar Pound Cake is the perfect dessert to finish things off. Rich and buttery, it’s *mwah*, chef’s kiss!

Easy Oven Baked Chicken

Ingredients:

4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts or use an equivalent amount of any chicken pieces, boneless or bone in, skinless or skin on

1 Cup Ketchup

1/4 Cup finely chopped onion

1/4 Cup Vinegar

3 Tbsp sugar

1/4 Cup Worcestershire sauce

1/2 Cup water

4 Cloves Garlic minced

Salt and pepper to taste

Note:  Original recipe called for a whopping 1 T. of salt which to me is way too much.

Instructions

  2. Simply place the chicken in a baking dish. I like to spray the dish with Pam to keep it from sticking.

  3. Mix the remaining ingredients together and pour over the chicken.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes until the chicken is done completely through.  That’s it!

Recipe Notes

We like it as is with roast potatoes on the side or served over rice or noodles. Pairs really well with potato and pasta salads and pretty much any vegetable side dish or salad.
