These Cinnamon Stick Ribbon Tree Ornaments are so easy to make and so inexpensive too! They’re perfect for making with a large group like Scouts/Brownies or in a classroom.
Of course, they’re also a great Christmas craft for your own family. Gather them around and make these for your own tree or to give as gifts. If you add a name to the star, you can even use these as place cards or gift tags.
Cinnamon Stick Ribbon Tree Ornaments
Check your local dollar store for supplies first. They often carry everything you need!
Supplies needed:
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Farmhouse Style or holiday Ribbon
- Wooden Stars
- Acrylic paint
- Foam brushes
- Craft glue or a hot glue gun
- Ruler
- Scissors or rotary cutter
- Ribbon or twine for hanging
Instructions:
Step 1: Paint your wooden star. Allow to dry completely and then paint one more coat.
Step 2: While your stars are drying, cut your ribbons into 9” long pieces. I used 10 ribbons per ornament, but this depends on the length of your cinnamon sticks.
Step 3: Tie each ribbon in a double knot around the cinnamon stick. Once all the ribbons are tied, use a ruler and scissors or rotary cutter to cut the ribbons on a diagonal, cutting them into a tree shape.
Step 4: Using craft glue or a hot glue gun, attach your wooden star to the top front of your ornament.
Step 5: Cut a length of ribbon or twine to serve as your hanger and attach to the back top of the ornament. Allow to dry before hanging on your tree.
