It’s Summer Fun Friday time again and this paper plate fish is so cute! It’s easy to make from simple supplies you can likely get at your local dollar store. Your kids are going to love tapping into their creativity to make a variety of adorable fish. If you add in some of the shiny cupcake liners, this could even be a tie-in with the Rainbow Fish books.

Paper Plate Fish
Supplies needed:

(4) Paper plates
Acrylic paint (pink, green, purple, and blue)
Paintbrush or foam brush
Pencil
Scissors
Stapler
Glue
Cupcake liners (assorted) regular and mini sizes
White and black construction paper

Directions:
1. Gather plates, acrylic paint, and paintbrush or foam brush.

2. Apply a layer of acrylic paint to the back of each paper plate. Let dry completely.

3. On the non-painted side of the paper plate draw a “V” with a pencil. Cut out the “V”. This will become the mouth and tail of the fish.
4. Use a stapler or glue to attach the fish’s tail to the opposite side of the mouth.

5. Take a cupcake liner and flatten it out, fold it once, and then fold it again. Place the folded cupcake liner “scales” in your chosen order and design securing each of them with glue. Continue until half the fish is covered in cupcake liner “scales.”

6. Next cut out two circles from the black and white construction paper to make an eye. Secure the black smaller circle to the white slightly larger circle with glue. Then glue the eye to the fish.
