20+ Indoor Winter Fun Activities for Kids

Well, the kids have been home on Christmas break for a while now – are they getting bored? Around here there’s still a few more days left to go before school starts up again and you might be running out of ideas to keep them amused. Here are indoor winter fun activities for kids to inspire you!

1. Make swinging Nerf targets – or if you prefer not to use guns even of the Nerf variety, just make some balls of wadded up newspaper to toss at them!

2. Here’s a simpler type of target practice if you don’t care to build the frame for the swinging targets above.

3. Make homemade edible sand for the kids to play with. Warning – it might be sticky and messy! You might want to have them play in the bathtub for easy cleanup.

4. Use craft foam shapes to create bathroom murals!

5. Use masking tape for a variety of simple activities including creating these bullseyes and then rolling balls, marbles, or toy cars towards them to see who can get closest to the center!

6. Let the kids make toy cars out of old boxes and then play drive in movie!

7. Use simple items like paper plates and paper tubes to make a ring toss game that’s safe for inside the house.

8. How about an indoor fishing game?

9, Create a spider web of painter’s tape and then throw paper balls at it and see how many you can make stick!

10. Paper plates and balloons can become a ping pong game.

11. Build an easy catapult and launch some marshmallows! Beware – this could get sticky!

12. A lid of a box, some straws, and a marble = fun maze game!

13. Use yarn or crepe paper and set up your own Mission Impossible “laser” maze for the kids to work their way through!

14. Launch a balloon rocket (and get a little science in!).

15. Kids love toy cars? Give them some masking tape (low tack painter’s tape is best) and let them create roadways through the house!

16. Make the classic ball and cup game.

17. How about setting up an indoor putt putt golf course?

18, Practise number skills and have fun bowling at the same time!

19. Or fly some paper airplanes and practise letter recognition while you have fun!

20. Make some indoor skis from recyclables and try your hand at skiing through the house.

21. Cut some pool noodles in half and create some racetracks for toy cars or marbles.
