11 Ways to Organize Fabric

It’s way past time for me to get my office/craft studio organized! I have more supplies than I could ever use and it’s become increasingly difficult to find what I need, when I need it. Plus, I’m seriously considering doing some downsizing and I would like to have it all pared down and organized before that. So, to get ready, I’m spending some time searching Pinterest to find as many great ideas as I can for getting my space put together.

11-fabric-storage-ideasTo get started, here are 11 ways to organize fabric. There’s some really clever ideas here and I love the way most are not only practical but also use the colours and patterns of the fabric to add beauty to the space. Since there’s a closet in the room I’m using, I’m seriously considering the one using pants hangers (skirt hangers would work here too) and then perhaps placing the smaller remnants in a glass jar.

Use pants hangers to store your fabric in a closet.

fabric-storage-bins Sort fabric by colour and store in see through bins.

fabric-storage-pants-rack Use a pants rack!

fabric-storage-cassette-tray Use a cassette storage rack to store remnants!

fabric-storage-filing Use Pendaflex files in a cabinet!

fabric-storage-rolls

Roll up and label the fabric. Place it in an old suitcase as shown here.

Roll up the fabric and store it in baskets. Pretty and practical!

fabric-storage-bolts

Use pieces of cardboard and store it like bolts in a fabric store.

fabric-storage-letter-rack

Use a letter rack or magazine rack to hold pieces of fabric.

fabric-storage-glass-jar

Pile it up in glass jars. Another pretty solution that is practical but adds a touch of colour to your space.

What’s your favourite way to store fabric?
