Winter Themed Mason Jar

Filed Under: CREATE, Mason Jar Crafts

This winter themed mason jar is really easy to make and perfect for Christmas or all winter long! Use a mason jar or grab an empty jar from your recycling bin!

You can likely find most or all of the ingredients at your local dollar store, making it an inexpensive craft project too. We made several of these so we could use them as luminaries for the front porch and walkway or on the mantel.

Winter Themed Mason Jar

Supplies:

Mason jar

Christmas/Holiday wrapping paper – preferably with a tree pattern

Mod Podge – if you’re planning to put them outside, be sure to get the Mod Podge that’s made for outdoor use

Paintbrush

Scissors

Epsom Salt

White Glitter/Faux snow

Flameless tealights

Directions:

Wash and dry your glass jar.

Cut out wrapping paper design, leaving plenty of room above the wrapping paper pattern to create a “snowy sky.”

Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge on the lower portion of the jar.

Carefully place the wrapping paper onto the jar and wrap it around cutting off any excess or overlapping wrapping paper. Allow a few minutes to dry.

Add 4 oz epsom salt and white glitter or faux snow to a bowl and mix.

Apply a coat of Mod Podge above the wrapping paper covering the entire jar. Making sure to apply the Mod Podge only to the top of the wrapping paper to create “snow topped” trees.

Sprinkle epsom salt/glitter mixture using a spoon.

Allow everything to dry completely before displaying or adding a flameless tea light.

*Note: additional Mod Podge can be applied over the epsom salt/glitter snow to keep it in place
