Materials Needed for the Snowy Owl Craft:

Complete snowy owl craft supplies including construction paper, glue, scissors, paint, loofah, and googly eyes.
  • Construction paper – blue, black, yellow, and brown
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Googly eyes
  • Pencil
  • White acrylic paint
  • Paper plate
  • Loofah
  • Small circle shape to use to trace – such as a biscuit cutter

Easy Directions for Your Snowy Owl Craft:

Gather all the supplies.

Pour white glue on the paper plate. Place the loofah in the white paint and move it around to gather the paint onto the loofah. Dab and blot the white paint onto the blue construction paper in a circular motion, giving the small owl a head and body.

Set the blue construction paper to the side to dry while the remaining parts of the owl are drawn and cut out.

On the yellow construction paper, trace the biscuit cutter’s outer edge twice to create two eyes. Cut each eye out.

Repeat on the black construction paper but use the inside of the biscuit cutter to create a smaller circle. Cute each additional circle out.

Draw two small legs and a triangle beak on the black construction paper. Cut out the two legs and beak.

On the brown construction paper create a limb for the owl to perk on.

Give it extra detail using the pencil. Cut out the limb. Let the white paint dry before going on to the next steps.

Add the brown limb at the bottom of the blue construction paper.

Glue the legs from the bottom of the owl to reach the limb.

What age group is this craft best for?

This snowy owl craft works well for ages 4 and up, but younger kids may need help cutting.

Can I use different paper colors?

Absolutely! Try gray for the background or add green to look like a forest setting. Try using white or beige paper and then different colors of paints for different types of owls – gray and golden brown for a barn owl, grays, browns and blacks for a great horned owl and so on.

Is there a no-paint version?

Yes! Use torn white tissue paper or cotton balls glued down instead of paint.

What can I use in place of a loofah?
