Rubber Band Painting

Welcome back to Summer Fun Fridays! Rubber band painting is a unique and fun way for your kids to create art. It only requires a few materials and they are easy to find at your local dollar store. Because it’s such an inexpensive art project, it’s perfect for doing with large groups like classes and Scout groups too.

Rubber Band Painting

The snapping of the rubber bands causes the paint to spatter so it’s a good idea to do this outside if you can. Otherwise, just be sure to put down a plastic tablecloth or tarp or something to protect your surface. It’s also a good idea to put on old clothes or a paint shirt to protect the kids’ clothing. The paint we used is washable but it’s still a good idea to be safe just in case.

Supplies:

Washable Paint

Paper Plate or Paint Pallette

Paint Brushes

Large Rubber Bands (3” fits well on a paper tray)

Paper

Paper Tray or Cookie Sheet

Tongs (optional)

Instructions:

Put paint on the paper plate or paint palette.

Place the paper on a paper tray or cookie sheet.

Wrap the tray with rubber bands.

Paint the individual rubber bands as desired

Using your fingers or the tongs stretch a rubber band up and let it go.

Repeat until you are finished.

Let it dry.

Crocheted Sunflower Granny Square
