I have so many fond memories of my grandparents. Cooking, crocheting, my love of trains and a good mystery novel/TV show – all of that comes from my grandparents. Now that I am a grandmother myself, that bond has taken on even deeper meaning.

Last Minute Ideas for a Fantastic Grandparents Day

Grandparents are so important and on September 9th 2018, many will be celebrating that fact. Grandparents Day is fast approaching and if you and your little ones want to honour the special bond they share with their grandparents, there are many fantastic last-minute ideas to convey just how special your grandparents are to you.

Last Minute Ideas for a Fantastic Grandparents Day

Write a Special Poem

Write your grandparents special poems or sit down and write one together. Then take turns reading them. This is a great way to put your feelings into words.

Make Art Together

Spend the day making special pieces of art with your grandparents. This could be anything from cards to paintings. Once you are finished you can display your art proudly.

Start a New Tradition Together

Try something new together, whether it’s a weekly lunch date or dinner and movie. Enjoy a new tradition with your grandparents on their special day.

Plant an Indoor Garden

Spend the day planting an indoor herb garden with your grandparents. Every time they make dinner with fresh herbs they will think of that special day spent together.

Bake Something Special

If you have always loved grandma’s special cookies, spend the day in the kitchen baking them together.

Make a Family Tree

Not only will you and your little ones learn more about their family history, but it will spark some memories and lead to some amazing stories from the grandparents.

Play a Board Game

Enjoy a family board game with your grandparents. Teach them a new game they haven’t played before or have them teach you one of their favourites. Spend the day together learning new things about different games they used to play.

Have a Sleepover

Spend the eve of Grandparent’s day having a fun overnight get together. This can be hosted at their house or yours. Pop some popcorn, build a fort or just snuggle together reading stories. Sleepovers are a great way to connect with your grandparents.

Have a Movie Marathon

Why not settle in and screen some of your grandparent’s favourite movies? This is an amazing way to connect with them and learn more about their likes and dislikes. Pop some popcorn, get together some comfortable pillows and blankets and settle in for a fun day of discovering new movies. You can even show them your favourite movie if they haven’t seen it yet.

Grandparents’ Day is a great time to demonstrate to your grandparents just how important they are to you. Take the time to do something special with them to show them how much you love them.

    Great list!
As for our family, we often do something together.
It might be a custom made and painted photo frame or a postcard with our photos.
