FAQs

Can I use regular white chocolate instead of melting wafers?

You can, but melting wafers give a smoother, easier dipping experience. Regular chocolate may need shortening added to thin it.

Can I use a hand mixer instead of a food processor?

A food processor gives the most consistent texture. A hand mixer works, but blend the cookies into crumbs first.

My coating seized when I added food coloring — why?

Water-based food coloring can sometimes react with candy melts. Gel food coloring works best.

How do I keep them from cracking?

Make sure the Oreo balls warm up just a bit after coming out of the freezer before dipping — not fully thawed, just not rock-solid.
