I was about 9 years old at the time. My mom was bustling around the house, preparing for a big Christmas party she and my dad were hosting. Maybe that’s when I became enamored with party planning. The special little touches she was adding to everything had me mesmerized. Everywhere I looked, I saw the magic of Christmas. The thing that stands out the most for me from that particular party? The edible Christmas trees. Oh those magical edible Christmas trees.

I was wide-eyed with awe watching as she created these pretty little trees out of food. Beginning with Styrofoam cones, covered with foil, and then cubes of cheese and accordion folded ribbons of charcuterie meats. The empty spaces were filled in with sprigs of parsley, bright red cherry tomatoes, tiny little pickles, cocktail onions, and black and green olives. Then, the final touch that literally had me oohing and ahhing  – she used itty bitty little star shaped cookie cutters to cut slices of yellow peppers into the perfect tree toppers.

So, fast forward to the present and there are tons of fun edible Christmas tree ideas out there.
