Christmas has always been so magical for me. And it always brings back memories of decorating with my mom. She loved filling our home with cheerful little details, especially ones that were handmade. This crochet Christmas wreath pattern, in particular, takes me back. My mom used to make a lot of these during the holiday season.
Mom would hang these from our Christmas tree, put them to packages as gift toppers, and attach pin-backs to them so we could wear them on our winter coats for a festive touch. Whether you’re trimming the tree or adding a festive charm to a gift, this wreath is a delightful addition.

FAQs:
What kind of yarn should I use for this wreath?
Worsted weight yarn works perfectly for this project. Acrylic yarns hold their shape well and come in festive colors!
How big is the finished wreath?
That depends slightly on your tension and yarn, but it generally turns out about 3-4 inches across — just right for ornaments, tags, or mini garlands.
Can I use this pattern to make garlands or larger decorations?
Absolutely! You can string a few together for a sweet garland, or try making them with bulkier yarn for a larger version.
Is this beginner-friendly?
Yes! This is a great project for beginners. If you can chain, slip stitch, and work single crochet, you’re good to go!
Instructions:

Step 3:
Chain 1.

Step 4:
Work a single crochet into the loop.

Step 5:
Continue to work SC into the base loop.

Step 6:

Step 7:
Chain 1.

Step 8:
Work 1 DC into the next stitch.

Step 9:
3 DC into the next same space.

Step 10:
Work 1 HDC into the next space.

Step 11:
Now make a slip stitch into the next space.

Step 12:
Repeat this pattern around the base, (1 HDC, 3 DC, 1 HDC, slip stitch).

Step 13:
Don’t cut the yarn, work chain 15.

Step 14:
Make slip stitch back into the same stitch there and cut off the yarn.

Step 15:
Stitch the remaining yarn tail the backside of the crochet wreath pattern. Prepare a piece of red yarn and draw it through the wreath pattern, from the front. Keep 2 inches extra tail at the front end.

Step 16:
Work running stitch around the wreath and bring the other end near the first tail. Tie a small tail bow with the open ends of the yarn.

There’s something so heartwarming about adding a little handmade charm to the holidays — especially when it carries a memory or tradition along with it. I hope this crochet wreath brings a bit of that joy into your home, just like it does in mine.
