Mouthwatering Meatless Meals to Satisfy the Whole Family
It’s that time of year again. Lent has begun and I am back to observing meat-free Fridays. Do you follow this tradition?
The rules in the Catholic church have become a little more lenient about things like this but since I can’t take part in any fasting (for medical reasons), I like to take part in the no meat on Fridays tradition.
It is just a great reminder for me to focus on what’s important. Every time I make that conscious decision to make and eat meatless meals during Lent, I think of Jesus.
Not only that, but adding more plant-based meals is a healthy approach to eating all year long!
These meatless meals pass the test even with my picky eaters.
First, a few personal favourites:
Pierogi Casserole (leave out the bacon or use a vegan substitute instead)
Neapolitan Pasta Bake (an all-time family favourite!)

Okay well so I am trying to understand Lent as a concept actually because the kids are both going to Catholic high school and one totally understands all of the religious traditions, customs at this point – grade 11 and the youngest will be heading there for grade 9 next year and neither one of us really knows much about Lent etc. So meatless Fridays sounds doable actually. That’s one day a week. I love my meat so I would struggle with meatless if it were more than that.
