Grab some basic supplies from your local dollar store so you can create a quick and easy Craft Stick Carrot Craft with the kids in about half an hour. They’re simple to create and make a super cute Easter display in your home.
String them together to make a banner or mobile, hang them on your door or in your windows, or prop them up in front of a basket of eggs. If you use your child’s hands for the leaves, these make a lovely keepsake and a fun gift for grandparents too!
DOLLAR STORE CRAFT STICK CARROT CRAFT
Materials needed:
- Craft Sticks, Jumbo – Dollar Store
- Cardstock, Green – Dollar Store
- Ribbon, Orange Gingham – Dollar Store
- Natural Jute Twine – Dollar Store
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – Dollar Store
- Acrylic Craft Paint – Orange, White
- Recycled Cardboard Box – Think Cereal Box
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Pencil
- CRAFT STICK CARROT PATTERNS
Instructions:
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. To create the carrot shape, lay out three jumbo craft sticks in a triangle shape. Attach them at the corners with a glue gun and glue sticks.
PRO TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the front and sides of the jumbo craft sticks with orange acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
STEP THREE
Download and print the CRAFT STICK CARROT PATTERNS. Cut out patterns with scissors. Trace the triangle carrot shape twice onto a cardboard box for cereal or crackers. Cut out triangles with scissors.
Basecoat the cardboard box triangles with white acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
STEP FOUR
Trace the hand shape twice onto green cardstock. Of course, you can always trace your child’s hand and use that instead. It makes a great keepsake.
Cut out with scissors.
PRO TIP: You can also use construction paper, craft foam, or craft felt for this project.
STEP FIVE
Attach the orange and white gingham ribbon in rows to the white cardboard triangles with a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim any long ribbon ends with scissors.
Glue the gingham triangles into the jumbo craft stick frame with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP SIX
Attach the two green hand cutouts together with a glue gun and glue sticks to create the carrot fronds.
Glue the green carrot fronds to the top center of the back of the carrots.
STEP SEVEN
Tie natural jute twine in a bow and attach it to the top center of the Craft Stick Carrots with a glue gun and glue sticks.
