Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar split into two 1/4 cup portions
  • 3 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt plain or seasoned
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 lbs pork spare ribs
  • 1 cup of bbq sauce my favorite is Sweet Baby Ray’s

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  2. Combine 1/4 cup of brown sugar and the spices.
  3. Take 1 tbsp of the sugar and spice mix and put it into a separate bowl. To this, add the apple cider, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Whisk well.
  4. Pull the membrane off the ribs. Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, making sure to cover both sides well.
  5. Place meat side up on a baking sheet that is covered with foil and sprayed with cooking spray (like Pam). Bake for 2.5 hours.
  6. Take the pan out of the oven and pour the cider mixture over. Flip the ribs to coat on all sides. Cover with foil and put back in the oven for another hour.
  7. Preheat your grill. Remove the ribs from the oven and brush them with your chosen BBQ sauce.
  8. Grill for about 15 minutes. Be sure to brush them frequently with more BBQ sauce and turn them several times to ensure they’re grilled on all sides.
  9. Allow them to rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
