WIP It Wednesday: CIRCLES!

Whew! I’ve been having internet issues and wasn’t sure I’d ever get this post up!

I wake up frequently during the night most nights and often when I do, some kind of inspiration hits for a creative writing or art project.  About a week ago, upon awakening at around 3 am, the thought that jumped in my head was “CIRCLES”!  Don’t ask me why but I suddenly knew I had to work on a piece that was based on the idea of circles.

This is still a work in progress – I have a few other things I want to add but it’s getting there.  I have used the bottoms of paint bottles of various sizes to “stamp” paint onto this canvas, giving the look resembling where someone sat a drink and left a water ring.  There’s also circles of Lutradur that I painted and inked, giving some sheer circles to the piece.  I dabbed on paint with three sizes of Plaid Crafts round “pouncers” and by using two sizes of bubble wrap as sort of a stamp.  In the bottom right hand corner, that’s the waste from some Pop Dots that I painted and inked.  I pulled off the paper to reveal the adhesive and stuck it on to add some dimension.  Then just above the silver circle you can see where I used the paper I pulled off – again inked and painted.  When I first started the canvas, I used some silver paint as a wash to give some luminescence to the piece.  I wanted to echo that silver again so I used the seal from a peanut butter jar that I embossed (just using a stylus) with some swirls.  There are two pink circles (to the right and left of the silver circle) that were formed out of cotton yarn that I glued on and painted over, again to add some dimension.

Thanks Fab. I’m leaving it for now and then going to come back to it. I feel like it needs a little something still but I might just change my mind after coming back to it. I don’t want to get carried away and add too much! LOL
