Instructions:
STEP ONE
To begin the Recycled Wine Cork Flag, gather all supplies. Lay out 35 wine corks on your work surface, 7 rows tall and 5 columns wide.
Separate the corks for painting; 16 red, 13 white, and 6 blue. This project can be scaled up or down to create the perfect size flag for your home décor.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the 16 wine corks with red acrylic craft paint. Make the coat loose, so that the printing on the cork shows through for added interest.
STEP THREE
Basecoat the 13 wine corks with white acrylic craft paint. Add some water to the paint, so that the printing on the cork shows through for added interest.
Loosely paint 3 wooden stars with white acrylic craft paint.
STEP FOUR
Basecoat the 6 wine corks with blue acrylic craft paint. Make the coat loose, so that the printing on the cork shows through for added interest.
STEP FIVE
Measure a rectangular of scrap cardboard, like a shipping box, to 6” tall by 9” long. Cut out the rectangle with scissors.
Starting at the bottom, attach 5 red corks in a row using a glue gun and glue sticks. Add a row of 5 white corks, then alternate red and white until the flag has four red stripes and three white stripes.
Add the six blue corks to the top left-hand corner of the flag to represent the field of stars.
STEP SIX
Once all the corks are glued in place, trim and excess cardboard from the edges with scissors.
Measure and cut a 12” length of natural jute twine.
Flip the flag over on your work surface and attach the twine hanger to the top right and top left hand corners with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP SEVEN
Using a paintbrush in a dabbing motion, add the holographic glitter acrylic craft paint to the three wooden stars to add some sparkle.
