There are 5 products in total in the Poise Feminine Wellness Product line but my store only had 4 in stock. The products are: Poise Roll On Cooling Gel, Poise Body Cooling Towelettes, Poise Feminine Wash, Poise Panty Freshener, and Poise Personal Lubricant
I first encountered the new Poise Feminine Wellness products when I attended the BlogHer 12 blogging conference this past August. In fact, I spent 45 minutes in their booth talking with one of their reps because once they told me about their new 2nd Talk campaign, I was hooked! If only these products and the information they’re sharing on their website had been available to me about 15 years ago! It’s called the 2nd Talk because the first one is about girls getting their periods. Over the years it seems to me that we have improved on making sure our girls have that very necessary information in the first talk. The 2nd Talk is one that has been lacking – until now!
So, when I was given the opportunity to host a Poise Menopause Party featuring the #PoiseFab5 products, I was very excited! You see, early menopause tends to run in my family. I, however, had very very early menopause. My last period was 11 years ago at age 40. I started having perimenopause symptoms leading up to this and in all honesty, my doctor didn’t have a clue as to what was going on. He had never encountered anyone going through menopause at such an early age so when I began to experience really intense hot flashes and night sweats, he actually thought I had a serious illness. There were blood tests, MRIs, CT scans – you name it. He even sent me to see an oncologist! Finally, after several years (yes years!) of this, he sent me to a gynaecologist who did some ultrasounds and blood work and was able to tell me definitively that I was now in menopause. I know for some of my friends, the thought of menopause was depressing, but as you can imagine given the alternatives, it was a great relief to me.
Before I headed out to Walmart to purchase my Poise Feminine Wellness products, I first checked out the Poise website and blog as well as the two page spread in the September issue of All You magazine. I learned a lot of new information AND found a $1 off coupon to boot! You can find your own coupon on Walmart’s website. Check out my Google + photo album to see my complete shopping trip at Walmart.
After purchasing these items, I held a “Girls’ Night In: Take a MenoPause Party” for some of my family and friends. The ages of this group ranged from 24 to 79. The 24 year old was my daughter and although, of course, she’s too young to be even going through perimenopause, it was important to me to include her. That’s one of the things I love about this new program from Poise – the idea is to get the information out to younger women, not just those who are already going through menopause. Perhaps if that had been done with me, I wouldn’t have gone through so much worry and so many medical tests! I don’t want my daughter to repeat my experience so I included her so that she could be ready for it when it does happen.
The 79 year old was my mom. Not only is it important to me to educate those who are younger, it’s also just as important to listen to the stories of those who have been through it already. Those of us who have already been through menopause or are just starting to go through it shared our experiences with the others. Those of us who aren’t there yet asked their questions and stated their concerns and we all learned something. Many were surprised to know that there may not be an “end date” to menopause. For most of us, we explained that while our symptoms greatly decreased over time, we still have some of them from time to time. It seemed to be the hot flashes and dryness issues that were the ones that persisted for most of us.
To get the discussion rolling, I set up my laptop and we watched the videos on the Poise website. The website is so well organized and so informative and I liked having the chance to show it to my guests so they could refer back to it later.
I didn’t want the party to feel too much like an “infomercial” (although believe me, everyone was having a great time sharing their personal menopause stories with each other!) and since we are all really big on Trivial Pursuit, we played a game of it. To go along with the theme of the party, I substituted the usual questions in the game for ones about menopause. I used the information available on the Poise website and blog to formulate the questions and answers. Of course, as we played, more discussions began about our own personal symptoms and experiences and what can be done about them.

Poise Roll On Cooling Gel and Poise Body Cooling Towelettes – these were definitely the most popular of the products at the party!
That’s where the Poise Feminine Wellness products came in. We passed them around and checked them out. Everyone was especially anxious to try out the Poise Roll On Cooling Gel and were very pleased by the immediate relief it gives. Of course, there were some giggles as the Poise Personal Lubricant made its way around the room, but we also engaged in some open, honest talk about it can be very helpful in maintaining intimacy later in life.
I made up a little goodie bag for each person who attended the party. I had some great Poise Body Cooling Towelette samples and some coupons from BlogHer, so I placed these in the bags along with some “Ice Cubes” chewing gum and some “Red Hots” candies to go along with our theme. I cut out the Poise logo from the sample packages so I could use those as a tag. Everyone was thrilled with these and it was so much fun to have some female bonding time!

Your goody bags were perfect for this party theme! I wonder if Poise will make a smaller sample size so people can carry them in their purses.
