I remember seeing the Simple Woman’s Daybook years ago when I first discovered the blogging world. They were always so interesting to read and I even used them as a prompt in my journal from time to time. I recently saw another blogger taking part in the daybook and decided to join in once again.
This can be a fun way to get to know the bloggers you like and to get some interesting ideas for your own life.

Simple Woman’s Daybook

For Today

Looking out my window

I see a bit of snow on the ground! Winter is having its last (I hope) hurrah! I’m so ready for spring.

I am thinking

About the lack of sleep I got last night. Sadly, our family has been passing Norovirus around and I’ve been quite sick the past few days. I’m also remembering that it’s April Fool’s Day and hoping no one is planning to try and prank me. As much as I love holidays, this is one I’m not that enthusiastic about.

I am thankful

For a sneak preview of a new cozy mystery called Queens of Mystery on AcornTV! I’m quite taken with the charm of cozy British mysteries but have run out of new things to watch. Although it doesn’t actually premiere until April 8th, they released the first episode on their Facebook page. It was a lovely treat at any time but when not feeling well, it was most welcome.

One of my favorite things

Honest Magic Balm. It’s not available yet in Canada so I’ve been rationing myself a bit but this stuff is amazing. I use it for nearly everything and anything to do with my skin and it makes such an improvement.

I am creating

I’m working on crocheting slippers. No photos to share yet because right now, they just look like rows of stitches, but these will be for Christmas presents. My grandmother used to make new slippers for each family member every Christmas. I’m sad that I don’t still have a pair of them but decided to revive the tradition for myself.

I am wearing

Pink panda pajama pants and a baggy black t-shirt. The t-shirt used to say “Nevertheless she persisted” on it but that has faded away. It’s still the most comfortable t-shirt ever though so I continue to wear it, especially when I need to feel cozy and comfortable. I would also be wearing gray wool socks (you know the kind with the red stripe at the top?) but Walter doesn’t seem to like for me to wear socks and he is always taking them off my feet.

I am reading (read) /watching (watched) / listening to

I already mentioned the new TV show, which by the way, did not disappoint. Other than that, I’ve been somewhat glued to the ongoing cliffhangers on the series 9-1-1, I just binge watched the new season of Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix, and I caught the season premiere of Call the Midwife which is always a show I enjoy.
I am reading the Book of Luke in the Bible as part of my church’s Bible study. We are taking a look at major themes in the book through the study and I am filling in with the rest of the book at home. It has been interesting and enlightening.

I am hoping

I hate to dwell on being sick but man oh man, I am hoping this goes away soon. Each time I think I’m getting better, it knocks me flat again. Having Norovirus on top of Crohn’s makes things a little trickier. I just want some energy again. In the meantime, I am allowing myself time each day to just indulge in some R and R – reading, watching movies, napping.

I am learning

How to practice Lectio Divina. It’s a type of prayer using Scripture. It’s a really interesting approach to prayer that I find quite inspiring.

In my kitchen

Weekly menu plan is to come – I got sidelined with illness. In the meantime, I can tell you that these Chicken and Veggie Spring Rolls from my dear friend Randa at The Bewitchin Kitchen are going to be on it. They are so colorful and sound so delicious!

In the school room

We don’t have any school age kids in the house but watching Walter learn new things each and every day brings me such joy. Recently instead of saying “yeah”, he has said “Bes” (yes) a couple of times instead and it’s so stinkin’ cute! He also has started, when noticing my books sitting on the table, to look at them, smile, and say “No” while shaking his head. He’s acknowledging that he understands they aren’t things for him to play with but seems to accept that quite cheerfully!

In my garden

The garden (such as it is – I’m not really into gardening) is sleeping beneath a layer of snow at the moment. I did see a few little purple crocuses peeking out the other day though so spring truly is right around the corner.

Board room

My pals Courtney and Tanner from A Little Craft in Your Day have a ton of great sewing tutorials and projects on their site. Here are 50 Sewing Patterns for Beginners to get you started!

Post Script

Cutefetti is one of my favorite blogs ever. My pal Dawn always has super cute ideas for parties, crafts, and just to celebrate every day life! I never fail to get inspired by her. It’s sure to bring a smile to your face too!

I just love the little curl sticking out above his ear. Reminds me of his mama when she was little. Look at the hint of an impish grin there too.
