The fabulous Eileen Hull is having a contest. About noodles. Yes you read that correctly. Apparently there is a new restaurant opening up called Noodles and Co. and the food is really delicious. Eileen shared on her blog how much she enjoyed it and now she has a $10 gift card from Noodles and Co. to give away! To enter, all you have to do is post on your blog or Facebook, your crafts made from noodles! Check out the details here: http://eileenhull.blogspot.com/2010/12/noodle-contest.html
As soon as I heard about it, I knew I had to share my favourite noodle craft – my pasta angels! I’ve been making these for quite a number of years now and they never fail to make people smile. You can hang a string from them to use them as ornaments or put a pin back on them and wear them as a brooch. As you can see in the picture, you can leave them plain or paint them using spray paint or acrylic craft paints. I use filberts as the heads but something like a bead will do as well. The body is a piece of rigatoni, the arms are elbow macaroni, and the wings are bowtie macaroni. On one, I gave her a halo made from an acorn cap and on the other I gave her hair made out of pasta too – it’s called pepperini on the box but I’ve seen it sold as “infant pasta” as well. I’ve also used moss for her hair and silk flowers placed atop her head for a halo so there are many creative possibilities for embellishing these. Hot glue works well to put these together quickly and because the elbow macaroni is bent, it looks like her arms are bent too, allowing you to place something in them for her to hold. The one angel is holding a little silver apple, making this a cute teacher gift. There are many things you could have her hold to theme this for the person you’re giving it to. This could be a fun craft to do with kids over the holidays. You could use a low heat glue gun with older children or with younger ones a good white glue like Aleene’s Tacky Glue with also work, it just takes a little longer to put together because you need some holding and drying time. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s entries for this giveaway!
