The rumbling and roaring of the engines vibrated right through every single bone in my body. I sat on the edge of my seat in anticipation. I took a deep breath as the Monster Jam trucks moved into position and rocked up and down, waiting for the signal to begin the next race. Suddenly, they were off! The trucks flew through the air – another moment of anticipation as I waited for them to land. BOOM – they came crashing down, smashing the cars they landed on. Finally I could exhale again.
Have you ever been to Monster Jam? The excitement just never ends! Approximately 12’ tall and about 12’ wide, Monster Jam® trucks are 10,000 pound custom-designed machines that sit atop 66 inch tires. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, Monster Jam trucks have 1,500 horsepower and are capable of speeds up to 80 miles per hour. Monster Jam trucks can jump more than 30’ high and travel a distance of about 130’ flying through the air. That’s longer than 14 cars lined up side by side!
A typical Monster Jam® track takes100,000 sq feet of plastic and 6000 sheets of plywood, 1500 man hours to build and remove track from beginning to end, and 1500 gallons of fuel to fuel the machinery. At a Monster Jam live event, these trucks face off and compete in side-by-side racing as well as a freestyle competition. Jaw-dropping stunts, tricks, and races – it’s family fun for all ages! Last year was my first time at a Monster Jam event and I’m so excited to head back again this year.
