Well, we just had our “spring break” here. I think there’s a reason we all call it March Break instead of spring break. There was nothing spring-like about it! Still, as I write this, the weather was quite a good bit warmer so maybe winter is thinking about leaving sometime soon? It was still a fun week though. We celebrated my birthday and Walter’s half birthday. I can’t believe he’s 6 months old already!!! He just got to have his first taste of solid foods so on the menu plan for him now is breast milk and oatmeal. Perhaps you can tell by the look on his face that the oat cereal did not go over well. Hahaha.
Other activities of the week included meeting a sloth, cayman, python, and other animals at Little Ray’s traveling show, getting my free birthday meal at Denny’s (listen – I find Grand Slams very noteworthy!), and then heading to the Toronto Zoo to see the Giant Pandas before they left for Calgary. Okay, so the zoo didn’t really go as planned. We learned two important lessons. Walter doesn’t like bright sunny days and he doesn’t like the cold. Also known as the poor little guy was miserable. The lineup for the pandas was 2+ hours long and it just wasn’t worth putting him through that. We did get to do something that was very special to me though – I got to see the 6 week old baby rhinoceros. I LOVE RHINOS!!!
Anyway, another week is beginning and that means another weekly meal plan! I’m starting a new system of labelling recipes this way –
FF = Freezer friendly
SC = Slow cooker
Menu Plan Monday Week of March 19

Grilled Chive and Buckwheat Honey Chicken (I’ve had this buckwheat honey since Christmas and have been looking for a yummy way to use it!), Roasted Potatoes, Peas, Corn
Tuesday –

Wednesday –
Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwiches,(FF,SC)with coleslaw, Potato Salad, fruit cocktail

Friday –
Meatless Meal: Make your own mini pizzas (my favourite combo is cheese, potato, spinach, sweet potato with a drizzle of olive oil and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar but any toppings that you like could be used). Tossed salad.
Saturday –
Grilled Asian Flat Iron Steaks, (FF) Baked Potatoes, Corn
Sunday –
Chicken Parmesan Meatballs and Spaghetti, Salad, Garlic Bread
This week coming up is a mostly quiet one so I’m hoping to get some spring cleaning done. We will be heading out to support my grand-nephew at a competition on Saturday which I am super excited about. What do you have going on this week?
