For about 8 months now, I’ve been the member of a women’s meetup group here in London, Ontario. We do a wide range of activities together from coffee meets, dining out, and searching for the best breakfast served in London to art exhibits, sports activities, movies, plays, and more. We even attended the annual zombie walk and haunted hayride together! I’ve been helping out with website duties on the leadership committee and have made many wonderful friends.
Me last night ready for our party!
Our leader is completing her one year term in a week and we wanted to do something special for her as a token of our appreciation. I volunteered to make her a hand-bound book that was then filled with photos from our outings and messages from the group members at last night’s festive holiday party. I took some of my Bic Mark-It markers and my Derwent Inktense pencils with me so that people could add their own creative touches to the book.
Materials used in making this book:
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Reinforcers
K & Company Tag Pad: Julianne
Blue handmade paper: Royal Alligator by Recollections Signature
Beige with polka dots paper: Bazzill Basics Paper: Rope Swing
Brown script handmade paper: Brown Script by Recollections Signature
Brown embossed paper: Bazzill Basics Paper Swirl Embossed
“Memories” sticker: K & Company, Life’s Journey, Grand Adhesions
Other assorted papers from my stash and from Dollarama dollar store and Curry’s Art Heaven (ok it’s really just Curry’s Art store but it feels like heaven to me!)
Brown 1/8 inch ribbon
1/2 inch copper washers
I just used a Japanese book binding technique that I learned a few months ago (coincidentally, on one of our group outings), made each section of the book a different size to create a staggered effect, and adding copper washers as a binding detail.
