Festive Friday Blog Hop #3

Here we are again for another Festive Friday!  Festive Fridays is a bimonthly blog hop hosted by Terri Sproul.  It gives us the opportunity to create Christmas cards all year long so that we have a batch of them ready to send out at the holidays.  You should have arrived here from:   Brenda’s blog   If you’d like to start the hop from the beginning, head on over to: Terri’s blog.

This week I have two cards to show you.  One is a general holiday card themed Winter Wonderland.  I like to have a few seasonal cards on hand that certainly can be used as Christmas cards but aren’t necessarily strictly themed that way.  These are helpful for sending out to those I know who don’t celebrate Christmas and/or are of a different faith.  For this card, I used a piece of blue cardstock as the background.  I had found some adhesive backed flocked lettering ribbon some time ago and had been wanting to use it, so it formed the theme and sentiment on the card.  I then added to the theme, creating a mini snow storm out of a cardboard snowflake I received in a scrapbooking kit, some silver (both glittery and not) snowflakes that came from an embellishment kit I purchased at Dollarama (a Canadian dollar store chain), and some blue and white snowflake brads.

My second card is a Hanukkah card I made for a dear friend of mine.  I started with the same blue cardstock base and then tore strips of a scrapbooking paper and applied those as “stripes”.  I embellished it with some stars of David that I cute from silver pieces received in that Dollarama kit, icy blue and silver bugle beads, and iridescent sequins.  I added the sentiment to the inside.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look at my cards.  I’m really pleased with how they turned out and the simplicity of them.  Your next stop is:  Robin’s Nest

Full list of participants is below! Happy hopping!
