Festive Friday Blog Hop #10

Welcome to another Festive Friday!  Festive Fridays is a bimonthly blog hop hosted by Terri Sproul.  It gives us the opportunity to create Christmas cards all year long so that we have a batch of them ready to send out at the holidays.  You should have arrived here from:   Angela’s blog  If you’d like to start the hop from the beginning, head on over to: Terri’s blog.

For my card this time, I decided to make another one with a little gift on it.  The snowman is actually a brooch.  I started with a piece of glossy red cardstock for the base of the card and then added a mat from a 6×6 pad of cardstock called Season’s Greetings by Lori Whitlock put out by Echo Park.  I used the back of another piece for the plain red background for the sentiment which I stamped with a rubber stamp from a Stampin’ Up set.  The snowman is made from a wooden ice cream spoon that is painted and embellished with sequins and a scrap of fabric for the scarf.  Of course, I added a pin back to the back of it to turn it into a brooch.  Finally, the wooden snowflakes are from one of my favourite companies, Maya Road.

For the envelope I used one of my favourite methods to create a custom one.  For this, you simply need a piece of tissue paper (I’m using a snowman themed one here), some white freezer paper (the kind with one glossy, waxy side), and an iron.

Place the tissue paper face up onto the glossy side of the freezer paper and iron them together to bond them.  You can crumple up the tissue paper first if you want a more crinkly textured look.  You can find templates of envelopes at craft stores, online or simply open up a premade envelope and adjust the size accordingly to fit your card.  I use a double sided tape to assemble the envelope and then add two more pieces of the tape along the edge you would normally lick to seal.  Leave the paper on the exposed side and then you can remove it when ready to seal and send your card!

Thanks for stopping by!
