We’re a family of foodies. We’ve been known to argue about where to eat for longer than it takes us to actually go there and eat. We’ve had disagreements about the proper way to make potato salad or coleslaw (mayonnaise or vinegar based?). We’ve adamantly adhered to our sides in the great “is it really poutine if it’s made with grated cheese instead of cheese curds” debate. One thing we always agree on is our love of Mexican food – it is a family favorite!
Of course, we’re a busy family and finding the time to cook a Mexican meal from scratch isn’t always possible. With our high food standards though, it’s tough to find something that’s convenient and quick, yet still appealing to our snobbish sophisticated palates. El Monterey frozen taquitos and El Monterey Signature breakfast burritos passed the test. I think our favorite part of the taquitos (well, besides them being so tasty) is that you can dip them. I mean, come on! What takes a food to the next level? Dippability! Anytime the kids (and let’s face it, the adults too) can dip their food,
Yummy food that you can dip = how to turn a simple everyday meal into a celebration. The kids will think you’re a supermom (because of course, you are) and you’ll be able to add this to your list of #momwins. The thing is, if you’ve got these super easy and convenient to make El Monterey taquitos that allow you to get dinner (or snack time) on the table quickly, you don’t really want to then complicate things with some crazy intricate dip for them now do you? Of course not!
You could go with a premade dip but how about upping the ante with this homemade lime and cilantro avocado dip instead? Pop the taquitos in the oven (if you like them crunchy, microwave if you prefer them softer) and as they cook, you can easily whip up this delicious dip. Simply mash up some fresh avocado, mixing in some sour cream to make it smoother and more dippable. Spice things up a bit with a little fresh squeezed lime juice, minced garlic (or garlic powder), minced onion (or onion powder), chopped cilantro, and just a dash of chili powder. Yum yum!
The taquitos and breakfast burritos come in several different varieties including: Extra Crunchy Southwest Chicken Taquitos, Extra Crunchy Taco Beef and Cheese Taquitos, Chicken and Cheese Taquitos, Beef and Cheese Taquitos, Egg, Sausage, Cheese and Potato Breakfast Burritos, Egg and Bacon Breakfast Burritos, Egg, Cheese, and Jalapeño Breakfast Burritos and more. You can try them out now with these money saving coupons for $1 off taquitos and $1 off breakfast burritos.
