Look what I got in the mail yesterday!!! I was so excited to see this arrive.  For the second year in a row, I was lucky enough to be chosen (by random draw) to participate in Dollar Store Crafts’ Secret Stashbusting Challenge.

What is the stashbusting challenge?  Well, we receive a package of items from Heather’s stash of goodies (and this year were some sponsors who included some items for us as well) and the idea is that we are to use as many of the items as possible to create things with.  We can supplement with items from our own stashes but are discouraged from going out to get anything new.

Heather included some questions for us to consider in our packages.

1) What were your first thoughts upon seeing the stuff in the envelope? I was super excited.  Having taken part in this last year I know how much fun it was! The exciting part is to take these items and challenge myself to make as many things from them as I can – to try to use up everything that was sent to me.  It’s a great boost to creativity to see just what you can come up with!

2) Did you like anything?  Hate anything?  I can’t imagine myself ever hating anything in these packages.  There’s just too many neat items to work with – some I’ve never seen here in my neck of the woods.  As far as liking them, well, some that stood out are:  the nonstick scissors as I’ve been CRAVING a pair of these for ages, the placemats and lace seam binding because they’re pink, the cameo because I have a thing for cameos, the sea glass because I just adore it and it’s such a pretty colour, the Duck Tape sheet because I’ve never seen such a thing before and the Lightning McQueen chalkboard because I know I’m going to make something cute for my sweet grand nephew with it.

3)  Were you stumped? Were you inspired?  The chalkboard, as much as I like it, has me a bit stumped on how to use it.  The cylindrical ice cube pan had me a little puzzled at first but I think I have an idea for it now.  I’m inspired by all of it!

The rest of the questions are ones to be answered once I make some items.  Stay tuned to the blog for upcoming posts on the projects I come up with for these.
