Today I went to another day of Culture Days events in London, this time as a participant. I met up with some women from my women’s group at Museum London to check out the activities there.
In the centre gallery, there was a sale of used books on art and local history and zines.
I scored this awesome book at the sale!
You could buy a pack of poetry from the Toronto Poetry Vendors’ machine.
I’ve seen Art-o-matic machines where cigarette machines were converted into vending machines selling small pieces of art but I had never seen one selling poetry before and this was a fun idea!
Zines for sale – it was really exciting to see a bunch of them produced by children!
Another fun idea: The Teenie Weenie Zine Machine!
There were also free drop-in hands-on activities: zine creation with Jamie Q, button making with Jason McLean, and book binding with Lido Pimienta.
At 1 pm there was to be artist Kim Moodie and curator Cassandra Getty taking visitors through Moodie’s exhibition All but Not but I got so involved in the activities here that I never made it that far! ps – the cafe provided by Sweet Beach Cafe was lovely! Really tasty food!
Button making!
Book-binding!
It was an amazing day – I learned so much, made some things, and all of it for free! What a great idea Culture Days is! I can’t wait for next year!
