blog hop

Welcome to Creative EdVentures’ first blog hop sponsored by Sue Miller and Queen Kat Designs!  If you have been hopping through from the beginning, you should have arrived here from Karen Campbell’s blog Karen C Kreations  (see list below of all of the participants).

I chose three of Sue’s winter/Christmasy stamps to use for this hop.  For this one, called Wishing You the Breath of Spirit, I created a shaker ornament/card.  The idea is that this is a shaker greeting card but then the front part of it can be detached and used as an ornament.  I used a piece of scrap cardboard as the base for the ornament and covered that with some snowflake tissue paper that I had on hand.  I matted the stamped image with a darker blue piece of snowflake scrapbooking paper that I had on hand and I coloured the stamped image with my Derwent Inktense pencils.

hop2pic

I enhanced and embellished some of the snowflakes in and around the image with some blue rhinestones.  I covered the whole thing with a clear plastic dome – this was a piece of packaging that I found in tube of craft foam shapes.  Before I sealed it completely shut with glue, I poured in some large blue heart shaped glitter/sequin pieces.  The background paper on the card itself is a dark blue with stars that is from Creative Memories about 10 years ago.

For this image, Candy Cane Elf, I used a laminate sample chip as the base for this tag/ornament.  I accented parts of the stamped image with colour by using plain old ordinary Crayola fine tipped markers.  I coloured and then dipped a fine paintbrush into water and went over my colouring with that to soften the colours and make them look more like watercolours.  I went around the edges with Lumiere in Pearl White and then went over the image with some Liquitex Iridescent Gel Medium to add some shimmer.  I then added dimension around the top and side edges with Liquitex Opaque White Flake Medium.  At the bottom, I used Liquitex Glass Bead Medium and enhanced the white trim of her hat with Pearl Ex Micro Pearl.  A little ribbon through the hole at the top creates a hanger so that this can first be used as a gift tag and then an ornament.

hop3pic

With the image, I Still Believe, I used a box that was leftover from a jewellery set I had purchased.  It has a framed opening in the lid that is covered with a piece of clear plastic.  It’s the perfect size to fill with some mini candy canes!

hop4pic

The stamped image was coloured with my Stampin’ Up chalks and then I coated the top of it with Liquitex Matte Gel Medium to adhere it to the inside of the lid.  To embellish the lid of the box further, I used red and green buttons from Michaels’ bargain section, some white ribbon (also from Michaels’), and a flat white glass marble from my stash in place of the pompom of his hat.

I hope you enjoyed the creations I have made using these beautiful designs!  Your next stop along the hop will be at Kari Sanchez’s blog Purple Funtastick Creations.  Be sure to check out and comment on all the blogs participating in this hop and then check back in to leave your comment at the Creative EdVentures blog at http://creativeedventures.blogspot.com so that you can be entered into the giveaway for the main prizes.  The list of all blog hop participants is below:

WOW, Cyn …. love, love ALL three of your blog hop projects. I immediately recognized the snowflake paper as I still have it too! lol Cute shaker card ornament, ornament tag and BOX! I think I was saying just yesterday in chat that “I believe” too, so had to chuckle when I saw the name of the stamp ! Thanks for giving so much detail. The Sue Miller stamps you chose are fantastic! hugs from Texas, xo
