Hello everyone! Once again, I’m participating in a round of Crafty Hangouts with some of my favourite crafty bloggers. Our focus this time is on crafts for under $10 and we are using supplies from Consumer Crafts, so a big shout out to them for these wonderful materials to work with!
I’ve got some great crafts for kids to show you. Since it’s back to school time around here, I thought that it would be fun to share ideas for making the child’s desk area more inviting. They need all the encouragement they can get when it comes to heading there to do homework, right? These crafts are perfect for ages 10+ (but could certainly be used with younger children if they’re quite proficient with crafting and have some help/supervision) and would even be great for teens and those heading off to college. What a fun way to personalize a dorm room!
Here are the supplies I used from Consumer Crafts for the projects I showed you on the video:
- Paper Mache Letter C – $1.97
- Ball of Bernat yarn – $2.97
- Pony Beads – $1.77
- Unfinished Wood Frame – $1.17 (I used two of these)
- Plastic straw beads – $1.47
- Lampshade $1.97
- Chicken wire frame $3.97
- Color changing duct tape $4.97 (I bought two rolls of this)
Total cost for all items: $26.40 (plus of course, there’d be a little extra for the glue I used and I assumed that you would have a pair of scissors on hand and not need to purchase those). HOWEVER, I also have some leftovers. There’s enough yarn to do another small project (the size of one of the small frames for example), I used about half of the straw beads and very few out of the package of pony beads. The rolls of duct tape are nearly full as the frame used only a few small pieces of that. So you can see, not only are these projects under $10 to make but in fact, I made all 5 for well under $20!
Be sure to head on over to Crafty Hangouts #craftsunder10hoa and check out all the other fantastic projects in this series! There are so many wonderful ideas and boy oh boy, they sure look like they cost much more than $10!
