I watched you make the slip cover for photo frames today on Cool2Crafts & really enjoyed it. It reminds of something similar that I designed years ago. I used an iron on interfacing to stiffen fabric & then made a pocket for a smaller photo. (Mine opened at the top) I cut an oval in the front layer of fabric & glued a row of gathered lace around both the outer edge & the oval. A cardboard rectangle made it more rigid & a piece cut from a clear page protector acted to protect the photo. Ribbons, pearls & flowers trimmed it & a strip magnet on the back made it great for displaying photos on the refrigerator.
Later came the idea of making a flat bottomed bag from fabric, weighting the bottom with pellets & filling the remainder with polyfil. After I sewed the top closed & glued it to the back of the frame (no magnet on this one) I had a fantastic frame to use in the motor home, boat, van. It stayed put! Our grandling traveled to Alaska & back on a narrow shelf above the door of the motor home & didn’t fall off—even on the terribly rough Alaska Highway.
Thanks for the reminder of my long ago project. I think I’ll have to revisit this one but make it a combination of your idea & mine. There are definite possibilities here.
