I’m trying to make myself a collection of vintage looking houses and an assortment of Christmas trees to create a wintery village on my mantel. For this tree, I began with a bamboo skewer. I painted it just in case any little bit showed through but really this probably isn’t necessary as I got really good covered with the branches. The branches are made from chenille stems (pipe cleaners) in white, white with gold glitter, white with silver glitter, silver, and gold. All I did was to cut some pieces of chenille stem – I began with 3 inch lengths, then 4, then 6. Then I simply wound the pieces around the bamboo skewer to secure. I didn’t find any glue was necessary. I left part of the skewer bare so that it can stick into some sort of base. For a final adornment, I added beads to the ends of some of the branches.
