Here’s another giveaway to help you add excitement to your family’s last days of summer! When I told my nephew and his kids that I was taking them to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, they could hardly wait to go. Living near Hamilton, they’ve been a couple of times and each time they go, they have a great time all while learning something new. And I can’t wait for my first chance to see it myself!
Now, you might be thinking, come on….really? The kids are excited about going to a museum? Oh yes they are! But this isn’t just any old museum. This place is interactive and has many opportunities for hands-on learning. The Museum houses over 40 aircraft that were flown by Canadians and the Canadian military services from the beginning of World War II to present as well as other exhibits of related artifacts. Kids can touch and sit in some of the planes to really get that up-close experience.
It is a working hangar and for an additional cost, you can even sign up to take a flight in one of the planes! Not quite ready to take flight? There are free flight simulators available in the museum. You can try your hand at flying a Chipmunk trainer, the Lancaster bomber or the supersonic CF-101 Voodoo jet. Taking off right from the Hamilton International Airport, you can choose a smooth and easy flight or one filled with loops and rolls!
The museum is located at 9280 Airport Road in Mount Hope, ON L0R 1W0 right at Hamilton International Airport. There is plenty of FREE parking in their own lot.
You can check out the Canadian Warplane website
